“If it’s a story I’m telling, then I have control over the ending…
But if it’s a story, even in my head, I must be telling it to someone.
You don’t tell a story only to yourself. There’s always someone else. Even when there is no one.” Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale
First, your story unfolds after you become in the womb. What your mother gives to you there is your first experience of connection. You follow. Upon arrival, you are introduced to your world through the eyes of the body that carries you and through the lessons of the ones who are meant to guide and protect you. Once again you follow. Maturation process comes on rapidly, you have the opportunity to make choices as to how you shall proceed on this journey. Now you get to choose if you will follow, who you will follow, if you shall lead or not.
Awake. You now have your moral compass. With mindfulness and intention, you have direction. You have the chance to move forward doing nothing or change the narrative by accepting what you believe in and release what you do not. Do nothing and you stay asleep, locked in, when your direction is snatched from you from those who benefit from your silence. So question then, at this moment in time, those who are in control and setting a tone that is not aligned to an uplifting energy that supports life. And question, those who sit back in fear or shame others to stop the conversation. Calmly, do what is necessary to speak up for the story of goodness that overshadows evil and greed. And take your power back from what does not resonate, with kindness, charity and love. This is where strength lies. This is the lesson. Don’t follow people you don’t believe in. You were not born to be weak. For when we look for leaders, there you shall be, kneeling, standing, refusing to move or otherwise. Telling a better narrative that empowers others to do the same. For then, you are telling the world your story, you do control the ending and it is one that you will be proud of.
