Make me a channel of your peace, the greatest ask in service to love. As I looked for role models to emulate during these challenging times, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi on October 4, 2020 caught my attention. St. Francis, the patron saint of animals and environment, expressed his devotion to God through his love for all of creation. Coupled with the famous Prayer of St. Francis calling for us to be channels of peace, in service to our highest good it is time for our thoughts to match uplifting action.
With service to peace at the forefront, it is proven that there is an interdependent connection between the body and the mind. When we actively engage a positive mindset to act as if what we wish for is already our reality, then the results can be readily seen as a healthy physical expression. And, when we experience a sound mind, our bodies are even healthier so we are able to serve ourselves and others better.
Dr. Michelle Robin in The Simple Thing Called Life wrote seven cardinal rules of life that can offer guidance to foster uplifting sentiments to live a more peaceful life in service to the common good. They are as follows:
Adopt all or one of these today and see how you can shift your mindset.
And, to make me a channel of your peace, let karma, the force generated by a person’s actions, be a guiding principle as we navigate these challenging times. We reap what we sow, to be in service from a place of loving one another, peace can only grow. To serve those highest vibrations of pardon, faith, hope, joy, consolation to name a few, the conversation becomes one of bringing light so that we can all start to heal at the broken places through love.
