“To know what you prefer instead of humbly saying Amen to what the world tells you that you ought to prefer, is to have kept your soul alive.” Robert Louis Stevenson If asked, you know what you like, you know what makes you feel good, you know makes sense to you, right? Or if asked, do you defer to others to decide for you? Then again, why would you defer and give your power away over and over again so willingly, when you can choose to live differently. With courage, you can make a statement to choose what you prefer and take a stand. You can’t so easily be persuaded to deny what is pulling at your heart strings. That is walking numb to your life. Why when given the choice to live a life that is full and satisfying, do most prefer to drink the proverbial “koolaid” because someone tells you to do it. That is giving your power away and not acceptable for the miracles that we are. Rather, we are given minds to question everything, especially those things that make you really uncomfortable. You are given feelings to gage your decisions. You are not a robot. You are thinkers, you are feelers and you are amazing with a spirit all your own. When you educate yourself with an open mind, then you can make a true evaluation as to what life presents to you and proceed accordingly towards your highest good. And, it is only then that what you believe becomes your own. And it is only then that you can see the gift in the lesson as it plays out through challenges and successes. By getting to know yourself better, you start to safeguard what makes you soar. When you simply take the time and learn what makes you tick, your inner light shines brighter. Embrace what you prefer in this life and go with it. Balance the concerns of others with the yearnings of your soul and you will feel more alive than you ever thought possible. And, there will be things that you don’t understand in life, don’t defer to those who you consider to be authorities, gain a deeper and more abundant understanding when you educate yourself as to what the wise ones may think they know to be true with all that is left to be discovered. When you hold onto your aspirations, listen, process, engage and find your flow by asserting your own preferences, you boldly rediscover the path that is meant just for you and can then go and set the world on fire. And when you allow yourself to choose your bliss, to this I humbly say Amen!
