On this 1st day of December- Wishing you all birthday magic today!
And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.
~Roald Dahl, British novelist and author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Have you ever wondered why as children we don’t need permission to let our imaginations run wild, yet as adults we default to someone else’s reality as our truth? As children, we picture ourselves in an amazing world surrounded by the mystical and the magical. As adults we readily exchange that picture for one that has no spark at all. The little child fantasized about magic carpet rides around the world, unlimited in possibility. The little child beamed, eyes glittering, seeing a world that lies behind the veil. Then the little child grew and was tempted to lose the spark, exchanging personal joy for the beliefs of the masses. The little child reminds her older self not to risk becoming jaded as others attempt to convince her that magical senses no longer have a place. Hold on to the place within that still remembers to protect the part that still believes, thinks outside the box, and keeps an inquisitive mind. If we no longer believe in the magic of this life, we are almost guaranteed to never find it. In turn, if we do believe, the best-kept secrets will be revealed before our eyes. As little children, we see with glittering eyes. We must learn not to lose this gift as adults because the greatest secrets are hidden in the most magical places.
