“Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.” John Homer Miller 1910-1944, Teacher
A wise woman told me once you cannot truly see something when you stand too close to it. Take a pontilism painting by Seurat, if you stand to close you can only see the paint and the colors but not the shapes, if you step back you can then see the masterpiece. So if you are struggling in an area in your life or with a person in your life, maybe you are standing too close and need to take a step back to see the big picture. Perhaps your mind just needs a break so you are then able to see the situation from a different perspective. If something does not feel good in your life right now, remember the only person you can change is yourself, so it is your attitude that may need the adjustment. Take a step back, refocus your attitude to a place of gratitude and then don’t force things to be the way you want them to be. We all have different levels of tolerations. While you do not have to force yourself to tolerate being treated in a certain way you certainly can accept them as they are and move forward so you are better able to process what is going on. Only then, will you be able to see the masterpiece that is your life.
