Stop playing it safe and pay attention to the gifts and opportunities life presents you!
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that know neither victory nor defeat.”
Theodore Roosevelt
There are times in life when the world can seem very overwhelming and the unknown very bewildering. There are times in life when the wall standing in between my present situation and achieving my dreams seems insurmountable. And, during these times, instead of seeing this all as a worthy challenge and forge ahead, all I want to do is retreat into my own little corner of the world and hide. Life has taught me that when faced with certain perceived obstacles or these learning moments, the warrior within is being called to task. The warrior is being called to rise up and respond. These challenges present themselves when you are ready to push forward, grow, and make the necessary changes to go to the next level. Even if you make some missteps along the way, I have come to learn to love my mistakes because it is a process in accepting progress not perfection as each one gives me the opportunity to learn and grow. As Charles Darwin has said so astutely, “It is not the strongest of species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” So, shifting perspective to stop playing it safe on the journey, but rather paying attention to what life “gifts” you and embracing it as a possible opportunity for change, allows you to live a more fulfilling life. It allows you to take on the day, embracing what it has in store for you. Pay attention to the messages so that the lesson can be learned. Follow your intuition so you know when it is time to act and when it is time to stand as a witness. As a very wise person once advised, be more like the palm tree than the oak tree- for the palm tree will always bend in a storm and recover stronger. If you mimic the palm you will respond in your life and you won’t break. When you respond and dare mighty things, you don’t run the risk of living in the gray twilight and fading away.
